More commonly known as “tennis elbow,” is a painful condition involving the tendons that attach to the bone on the outside (lateral) part of the elbow. The tendons that attach the muscle to the bone develop tiny micro tears.
Overuse. Both non-work and work-related. Repetitive gripping and grasping activities such as meat cutting, plumbing, painting, auto-mechanic work, keyboard or mouse work etc. Although less common, a direct blow to the elbow can make the elbow more susceptible to an overuse injury.
When you touch it, make a fist, grab a coffee cup, picking up your purse… pain is produced by any activity which places stress on the tendon, such as gripping or lifting.
Despite the name, you don’t need a racket to get tennis elbow—just lots of repetitive wrist or hand use. A counterforce strap reduces tension on your extensor tendons so you can stay active. One thing our team always says: Wear it before you flare, not after. The brace isn’t the story. You are—and you’re already writing your comeback.
