Osgood-Schlatter
WHAT is it?
Inflammation below the knee at the point where the tendon from the kneecap (patella) attaches to the shinbone (tibia).
WHEN does it hurt?
Pain usually worsens during activities involving running, kneeling and jumping.
WHY do I have it?
Often seen with adolescents following a growth spurt. When the tendon and bone do not grow at the same rate, the tendon is stretched causing inflammation and pain.
The BRACING EXPERTS Advice:
Icing is a good way to counteract daily inflammation. In addition, wearing a knee strap-style brace just below the patella can help relieve tension.
